We had originally intended to post these brands separately, but if you go to either Bridgestone or Firestone's websites, you get both brands, so we've combined them as well. Bridgestone is another one of the world's top three manufacturers. If the hallmark of Goodyear is innovation, and Michelin their smooth ride, for Bridgestone it's their rock solid reliability. Unless these tires get too old, they just don't have problems. Firestone has been owned by Bridgestone for more than ten years, and even though Firestone has had some bad press over the years, these days they are top quality tires. Another characteristic of most Bridgestone tires is their relatively firm sidewall. Though they made ride firmer than some other tires, they are not really harsh or hard. However, this has the advantage of greater stability on all sorts of vehicles, from top heavy trucks and SUVs to sports cars. This will instill greater driver confidence. Since Bridgestone and Firestone are not brands we stock, we won't cover all of their tires, but rather give some of the highlights.

High performance tires:

The idiot boss here at Souza's loves motorsports and has driven on quite a few different high performance tires; Bridgestones are some of his favorites. They almost universally have tremendous grip, wet or dry, and with their firmer sidewall, they have very fast response to steering inputs. For example; the Toyo T1R is a very good performing tire, but it has a softer sidewall. This results in improved ride quality, but there is a downside to that. When entering a corner with this (or similar tires), the sidewall flexes and for a split second the car seems to shift sideways. This can give an uneasy feeling until you're used to it, and may feel like the tires lack grip. But if you push them past that point, the tire (the T1R at least), has a lot of grip. In contrast, the higher performance Bridgestone tires skip this "shifting" stage and immediately turn. This makes the tire very predictable, stable under braking, and gives the driver a lot of feedback, which instills confidence. The Firestone Wide Oval should share the same characteristics as well. So here are some of their best high performance tires.

Truck Tires

The truck tires listed here are all top quality offerings, with the Dueler Alenza and the Dueler Revo A/T being some of the best truck tires money can buy. If your vehicle rarely sees any dirt or snow, any of the all season truck tires are good choices. If your vehicle sees dirt or snow often, or you want the added security just in case, the all-terrain choices will be better, and the Dueler A/T Revo will be the best of all. With the possible exceptions of the Bridgestone 684II and the Firestone Destination H/T, these truck tires have the same firmer sidewall characteristics cited above. The firmer sidewall gives these tires more stability with loads and in the corners, while not being so stiff as to be harsh or hard. With all of the curvy roads in this area, this is really good for top heavy or heavily loaded vehicles. These tires as a whole have very good wear characteristics and rock solid dependability. Since these tires have varying characteristics and warranties, we'll summarize as follows:

Bridgestone Dueler 684II Smooth, quiet all season tire, Metric sizes only, oe tire

Firestone Destination LE Pretty good snow tire for an all season, Metric sizes, 60,000 mile warranty

Bridgestone Dueler Alenza B's best all season truck tire, Metric and LT, Metrics have 65,000 mile warranty

Bridgestone Dueler AT695 Good all terrain tire, Metric and LT, Metrics have 50,000 mile warranty

Firestone Destination A/T Good all terrain tire, Metric and LT, Metrics have 50,000 mile warranty

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo B's best all terrain tire, Metric and LT, Metrics have 50,000 mile warranty
